Mandatory equipment – General instructions

To ensure the safety and smooth running of the race, each participant must carry all the equipment listed as compulsory (see below). All equipment must be carried by the runners for the duration of the race.

The Organiser reserves the right to impose additional equipment requirements, such as hot weather equipment or cold weather equipment, depending on weather conditions. All participants will be informed of any changes in good time before collecting their start numbers.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT – 30K

To participate safely and responsibly in the 30-kilometre race, each runner must carry the following equipment:

  • Running backpack – for carrying all your personal equipment.
  • Mobile phone – within reach at all times:
  • Keep the contact numbers of the organiser.
  • The phone number must be visible and the battery charged.
  • Phone must be switched on at all times (no airplane mode).
  • ECO cup (min. 1,5 dcl) – bottles with caps are not allowed.
  • Liquid reserve: min. 1 litre.
  • Whistle – for emergency signalling.
  • Energy food – (e.g. gels and/or bars).
  • Rescue (astro) foil
  • Waterproof jacket with hood – suitable for harsh weather conditions:
  • Water column min. 10,000 mm.
  • RET ≤ 13.
  • Sealed seams, no non-resistant segments.
  • Basic first aid kit – (bandages, gauze, plasters)
  • Long trousers or tights – in case of bad forecast
  • Cap or multi-purpose scarf (buff) – depending on the forecast.
  • Gloves – in case of a bad forecast
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT – 15K

To participate in the 15-kilometre course, it is compulsory to carry the following equipment to ensure safety and basic self-sufficiency during the race:

 

  • Race bib – visible at the front at all times

  • Reusable eco cup

  • Trail running shoes

  • First aid kit (bandages, gauze, plasters)

  • Appropriate clothing (for temperatures from -5 °C to 20 °C, wind protection >100 km/h)

  • Emergency (thermal) blanket

  • Energy food

  • Running backpack with at least 1× 500 ml bottle

  • Whistle

  • Mobile phone

  • Windbreaker / jacket

Note:All equipment must be with you when you collect your bib number and worn throughout the race. The organiser reserves the right to check the equipment – in case of non-compliance, disqualification will follow.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT – 10K

Even for the shorter 10 km route, a basic safety standard applies. Runners must carry the following equipment:

  • a visible bib number, eco cup, running shoes and smartphone, which must be accessible throughout the event

Running Guide 2026

The Kras Trail 2026 Runner’s Guide will be available approximately 15 days before the event. It will give you useful information about refreshments, picking up your bibs, timings, mandatory equipment and other key information for all participants.

Elite runners

The first Kras Trail 2026 will also feature a varied line-up of elite runners from Slovenia and abroad! We are expecting some of the big names of trail running, who have been conquering the world’s biggest events with their performances.

General Conditions of Competition

 

  • Runners participate in the event at their own risk. The organizer assumes no responsibility for any personal injuries or damage to equipment. By registering for the event, runners agree to abide by all rules and accept any related consequences.
  • For minor participants, parents or legal guardians are responsible and must sign the registration form.
  • The signature on the registration form will be required when collecting the race bibs.
  • Runners must be physically prepared for the chosen distance. The competition will take place in all weather conditions, except in cases where extreme conditions would jeopardize the safety of participants. In such cases, the organizer may change the route or cancel the event.
  • Participation in the 32 km race is not allowed for those under 18 years of age.
  • Participation in 15 km race is allowed for competitors aged 15-18, but only with written consent from a parent/guardian.
  • Participation in the 10 km course is not permitted for participants under the age of 12. For participants aged 12–15, written parental consent and the presence of one parent or legal guardian during the race are required..
  • will be clearly marked every 50 to 200 meters (with tape, signs, flags, or ground markings). Marshals will be present at key locations, along with emergency and mountain rescue services.
  • Each runner may voluntarily withdraw at a checkpoint but must immediately inform the organizer (contact info is on the bib).

Prohibitions and penalties

 

  • Any external assistance outside official refreshment stations is prohibited.
  • A runner who deviates from the course, takes shortcuts, or arrives at a checkpoint from the wrong direction may be penalized with disqualification or a time penalty (minimum 1 hour).
  • Missing mandatory gear results in disqualification.
  • Littering on or along the course results in immediate disqualification.
  • Abusing organizers or volunteers results in disqualification.
  • Important: For safety and accurate timing purposes, it is strictly prohibited to compete under someone else’s name unless the official transfer has been completed.
  • Running without a bib number results in a ban from participation for an indefinite period, at the organizer’s discretion. Disqualification, removal from the event, and notification of the relevant authorities may follow..

Doping

The use of any banned substances is strictly prohibited. The organizer reserves the right to conduct random doping tests if necessary. Any athlete who fails to comply or refuses testing will be disqualified and may face additional sanctions according to anti-doping regulations.

Cancellation of an appearance

In case of cancellation due to force majeure:

  • Up to 2 months before the event: 70% refund + 10% discount for 2027 or a transfer.
  • Up to 21 days before the event: 60% refund + 10% discount for 2027 or a transfer.
  • Less than 21 days: no refunds, only transfer to 2027 possible.

Collection of goodie bag in case of non-participation:
If you are unable to participate in the race for any reason, the organizer is not obligated to provide race goodie bag, technical shirt, or other materials. However, you have the option to collect these items personally during the official KRAS TRAIL race bib collection or authorize another person to collect them on your behalf. After the event, the organizer will not be responsible for shipping any uncollected items.

Right to Refuse Registration or Exclude a Participant

The Organizer reserves the right, based on justified grounds, to refuse a registration or exclude an individual from the event if it is determined that their behavior (before or during the event, publicly or privately) seriously harms or could harm the reputation of the event, the Organizer, partners, sponsors, or other participants.

Such behavior includes, but is not limited to:

  • the intentional dissemination of false, misleading, or defamatory information about the event or the Organizer,

  • public discrediting of the event or the Organizer, or calls for boycott without substantiated facts,

  • actions that are contrary to the principles of fair play, respectful communication, sportsmanship, or applicable laws and regulations.

Any decision to refuse or exclude a participant shall be based on the principle of proportionality and the protection of the legitimate interests of the event.
In the event of refusal or exclusion prior to the start of the event, the participant is entitled to a refund of the registration fee, except in cases of serious violations of the event rules or applicable legislation.

Such a decision shall not be considered discriminatory under applicable law, but serves solely to protect the integrity, safety, and reputation of the event.

Other obligations and rules

 

  • he race bib must be visible on the front of the body.
  • Each runner must bring their own cup (no plastic cups will be available at aid stations).
  • A waterproof jacket with a hood is mandatory for all distances unless the weather is favorable for shorter distances.
  • A basic first aid kit (gauze, bandage, plasters) is mandatory.
  • Before leaving the aid station, the runner must ensure they have enough food and drink supplies for the journey to the next station.
  • y participating, the runner acknowledges all associated risks and waives any claims against the organizer for any damages or injuries.
  • The organizer reserves the right to change these rules. All participants will be notified of any changes in a timely manner.
  • Use of content: By participating in the Kras Trail, runners grant permission for the use of photographs and video recordings for promotional purposes without financial compensation and waive any copyright claims to such content.
  • Categories for Women and Men:

    1. Up to 34 years old

    2. From 35 to 44 years old

    3. From 45 to 54 years old

    4. Over 55 years old

 

  • A medical team and an ambulance will be present throughout the event. If the medical staff determines that a runner is no longer fit to continue safely, they may stop the runner and provide assistance. In case of rule violations, the runner may be disqualified.
  • All complaints must be submitted in writing within 30 minutes after the runner’s arrival at the finish line and must include a deposit of €50. The organizing committee will review each case and respond as soon as possible. Their decision is final and cannot be appealed.For complaints regarding course irregularities, the following must be submitted:A written report

    The technical director

    If necessary, the aid station or checkpoint manager (depending on the nature of the complaint)
